Can you imagine your child never getting an 'A' in math? Can you
imagine constantly paying for extra lessons in math for your child until
he/she is 18 years?
Here's a scenario products occurs a child when he/she is in a math exam.
Question 1: x + 1=4. What's the worth of x? child: "x = ?" child: "oh my gosh I have no clue what direction to go!!!". child: " I'm scared!!! I'm scared!!! I'm worried!!! Mom will almost certainly kill me if I flunk this test".
child: " You know what, I am just going to ignore that question. After all it's just one question. That won't cause any harm" child: "OK next question 10y=30. What is y?". child: "WHAT!!! This is even harder than the first one".
child: "Ignore this question".
The ignoring of questions continues until the exam ends. Then the child gets a failing grade. Most parents can't understand why their child's math grades are poor. They are faced with the harsh reality that their child is not doing well in math. Most times they panic and spend frantically on books or extra lessons to no avail.
Some parents get so frustrated that they blame the math teacher because of not teaching the topic properly. Unfortunately, playing at fault game doesn't solve the situation. As being a parent your child's performance in college can be your responsibility. No-one will enjoy or maintain your child just as much as you do.
I understand that you're spending lots of money to boost your child's math grade. I know that sometimes you really feel frustrated. There are methods to enhance your child's math grade but you need involved. Perhaps the most common problem that I have realized with most children is always that they had problems grasping a thought because they didn't understand the basics. LEARNING THE BASICS IS KEY.If you neglect the basics you happen to be teaching the child how you can run before he/she learns how you can creep. Every time a child see the basics, math will become easier and fun.
An excellent procedure that will teach math for your child is:
1) Explain to your child that math is cool, easy and fun. 2) Remove all the negativities about math from your child's mind. Do some simple question with them to prove this. 3) Start from the basics. This is where most children go wrong. 4) Explain to your child that there are more than 1 ways to solve a math problem. Show your child the different approaches when solving a problem. Most children get confused when different teachers teach them different approaches. Your job is to explain to your child that in math there are different approaches and that they can use the approach they are comfortable with. 5) Communicate math to your child using the language that your child loves for example use jokes or acronyms like LOL, :-). Just make it fun and exciting. 6) Reward your child when their performance in math improves. This will motivate your child to do better. 7) Always keep track of your child's development at school. Remember that no-one loves your child as much as you do :-)
I used a similar technique in my opinion 'Math Is Cool- The Beginner's Help guide Simple Algebra' and it works like a charm. Your child will succeed if one makes a decision to do no matter what to boost your child's math grade. Well Guys, that's what's on my small mind today. Be aware that Math is Cool!
